London is home to many iconic museums, many of which are free. A short tube journey from City Continental will see you at the World’s oldest museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, which is currently home to a Frida Kahlo exhibition. Close by you’ll find the Science Museum where you can see Apollo-10 amongst 15,000 objects and interactive displays. Or, see the skeleton of a blue whale at other wonders of the natural world at the Natural History Museum.
Kensington Palace is also home to the Diana: Her Fashion Story Exhibition, which showcases many of her iconic outfits.
A little further out you can discover London’s history at the Museum of London, touch a real-life gold bar at the Bank of England Museum or discover over 2 million years of human history at the British Museum.
For all museums mentioned above, (except for Diana: Her Fashion Story at Kensington Palace) entry is free and donations can be made. Some exhibitions and events will charge.
London has its pick of green spaces to explore. Head to Hyde Park near our London hotel to enjoy the British summer in a wonderful outdoor setting. Take a leisurely stroll, a dip in the Serpentine, row a boat and ride a bike. There’s also a children’s play park to keep the little ones happy! Holland Park is also within easy walking distance. The Royal Borough’s largest park is home to wildlife, a children’s play park, and a Kyoto Garden donated by the Chamber of Commerce of Kyoto in 1991. You can also take a stroll around Kensington Gardens, home to Kensington Palace.
An oasis of tranquillity can be found at Little Venice. Take a stroll along the river or take a trip on one of the barges to Camden Lock Markets. Several businesses also run along the river including cafes and a Puppet Theatre.
Kew Gardens can be reached in as little as 15 minutes from City Continental Kensington and offers a great day out for all. See tremendous views of the gardens from the treetop walk and many of the world’s most endangered and threatened plants. Head along on a weekend to be amazed by an aerial performance set amongst 10,000 plants. For families follow the footsteps of Gnormus the giant gnome to discover more about the collection of plants. There’s also a dragon trail - keep your eye out for dragon sculptures.
Experience a new way to watch a movie with City Cruises this Summer as you sail along the River Thames at sunset before docking up to watch the film. Classic movies from Labyrinth to Casablanca to some of the latest cinematic greats such as Black Panther and The Greatest Showman are all scheduled.
Follow in the paw prints of everyone’s favourite bear, Paddington, with a two-and-a-half-hour tour. Beginning at the station he was found, this trip will take you on your own Paddington adventure from the sites that have featured in both movies and the many books.
